Don’t Buy Wood Profits – Do This Instead

Here is another product by Clickbank that claims to help turn your passion into something profitable. Jim Morgan, the creator who has little expertise in the field, said that he’s earning over $12K by simply doing woodworking from home. So, should you buy Wood Profits? Hold that thought for a minute while we go through this review, okay?

The Sensational Sales Page

Clickbank products are notoriously known for their flashy sales page and Wood Profits is no exception. Therefore, I always advise my readers to use common sense when reading them. At the start of the page, this is what greets you;

That should pique anyone’s curiosity to read on and you will find a lot of exaggerated claims throughout the entire pitch;

• First, you can apparently achieve success with little to no startup capital AND no high-end equipment. Heck, you don’t even need any woodworking experience. Does that mean you are going to carve some projects out of thin air? I may not be a carpenter but that doesn’t sound realistic to me either.
• Second, you can make a 6 figure income by working on a part-time basis like 20 hours per week. That rounds up to be about 3 hours per day. Now, such lucrative income isn’t impossible in the online marketing world where operational costs are minimal and sales are naturally recurring, but for any project-based type of work, such claim is very far fetched.  
• To prove his point, he claims that his plans can help you design projects at cheap and in the shortest amount of time. Look at the example he put up.

The cost of producing this wooden wine glass holder is only $5 and it only takes 1 hour to build. Really? I bet a lot of woodworking people will disagree on that. Good quality workmanship needs precision and patience. You can’t just rush through things like a robot. Even I know that.     

After reading all these claims, there should be two kinds of thoughts going on right now. “It’s just another bogus product” and/or “Wow, I want to know more!”. Well, let’s dig further before we come to a conclusion, okay?

What Are You Actually Getting

As it turns out, Wood Profits is some kind of business system that can improve your woodworking skills, offer the latest project plans AND also help you make more sales online. The material you are getting is an eBook and an audio file, for the basic package.

On the front end, the program sells for $37, in which Jim will later give you a $10 discount during check out. But he will also push you through three more upsells, ranging between $30 to $50 per product. You can choose not to buy if you are not interested, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Another thing that may interest some is the affiliate commission which pays as much as 75% of the total sales. Jim claims that the conversion rate is at an impressive 11%, but before you go around promoting this product, here’s some facts you need to know.

• The 11% data came from a 2012 statistic. That’s 7 years ago so it’s pretty dated in my opinion. What you want to know is the current conversion rate in 2019, if he’s willing to share at all.

• The product is still currently in active listing on Clickbank but the gravity score is only slightly under 24. That’s a pretty low score if you asked me and when I look around, there are very little positive or genuine reviews about the actual product itself. Those who are pushing it are just merely pushing their affiliate links in order to earn commissions from you.

The Red Flags

Just like anything else, there’s a need to verify who the owner is. Jim Morgan seems like a pleasant man, but he’s also a model from iStock photo who never seems to age. Nice shot, though.

Fake creator profiles is an over-used tactic that makes me doubt the legitimacy of many Clickbank products so I am not surprised to uncover this one. There were a few positive testimonials coming from their Facebook page, but when I checked on that, those comments were just snapshots.

The page is practically dead, no engagement, no real users and no latest postings whatsoever. All these charlatans are total red flags and I guess nothing more can be said for this absolute bogus product.

My Verdict

Wood Profits is a subpar program in many ways. The eBook may spark some ideas for your woodworking projects, but certainly, don’t expect it to make you rich overnight. You can use it as a piece of information and explore other opportunities, but there’s certainly more work to be done if you want to take your passion to the next level.

Not a single digital product that I’ve reviewed so far can offer instant success. If they could, everyone would be making a ton of money selling eBooks. However, there’s one thing Jim said that rings true – the size of the potential market for woodworking is huge.

And that brings me to the next point.

Turning Woodworking Skills into Profits – The Right Way

There are likely two reasons that may have lead you to check out Wood Profits in the first place.

• You run a small woodworking business and want to start selling stuff online.

In this case, you should create a business website and list it on Google. That way, the community will know about your work and come to you for orders. Alternatively, you can also list your products on creative marketplaces like Etsy to get more exposure.

Those two can actually be linked together so whenever people visit your storefront on Etsy, they can also check out your project gallery on the business website. This method of marketing engages more customer trust because people can view your work and know that you are genuine.   

• You like woodworking as a hobby and want to make some extra cash with this passion.

In this case, you can get into affiliate marketing. Surely you use a lot of tools and resources to produce your project and this stuff can be shared with the online audience too. When people buy these tools through the merchant’s online store, you’ll earn a small commission from the sales.

Through the Amazon Associate program, you can promote literally anything on the marketplace. There are home improvement tools, machinery and even books in this niche if you like. The good news is, most of these items are on the higher price range and that usually translates to bigger commission cuts.

They also have real customer reviews about the products that can add credibilities to your recommendation. Most people already have accounts with Amazon so shopping there is literally second nature to them. Alternatively, you can also try outlets like Home Depot, Walmart or Lowe’s, all of which have online stores.

• Find a targeted niche within woodworking that you want to talk about.
• Create content around that niche topic by doing thorough keyword research.  
• Find a few products that you’ve experienced with, find out if they have got affiliate programs and start writing high-quality product reviews. 
• Continue to produce more content, whether they are videos or articles, linking to product reviews.  
• Engage with your audience through blog comments and social media sharing.
• Watch your commission grow 🙂

Whether you are a business owner or an affiliate, this is the type of information you need to know in order to steer the direction for sales. It’s not about buying an auto-pilot system and finding shortcuts. If you rely on those hypes, you’ll never get anywhere.

However, if you based your actions on facts and research with a sincere pursuit of what it means to become a successful woodworking entrepreneur, then this huge market will have a lot to offer.
