In affiliate marketing, we are often told to get into an upward trend type of niches because it’s more profitable. Well, here’s one. Have you heard of the tiny house movement? It’s a new way to live a simpler life – less stuff, smaller spaces, more time and financial freedom.
If you find this concept appealing, you’d be excited to know that there are a variety of tiny house affiliate programs out there.
Why Is This a Popular Niche
The idea of living in a tiny home isn’t just a fad. It comes with different versions (container homes, modular homes and portable structures) and offers plenty of benefits that most urban dwellers can relate to.
(1) Let’s face it, the modern lifestyle is chaotic and much of it is due to material possession. Those who realized this are seeking for a less cluttered life and downsizing through a tiny house seems like a perfect solution. The majority of the inhabitants claims that by making adjustments and the good use of space, their stress level can be significantly reduced too.
(2) Building a tiny house is generally cheaper than a typical modern home. For $50K or less, you can own a decent space, but if you opt for modern housing, you could be easily tied to a 30 year loan. Hence, tiny homes are great for those who don’t want a mortgage commitment or prefer more disposable income/freedom to pursue other interests in life.
(3) Compared to modern housing, the construction of tiny homes produce less impact on the environment as most used reclaimed woods and recycled materials. So, instead of going to the landfills, they are reused to build functional homes. Even the toilet waste can be used for gardening – how awesome is that!
(4) Since its inception, the tiny house movement has found its way to many people’s hearts. It’s not just favored by minimalist, but carpenters, designers, college students and even retirees are loving the idea.
In fact, the government sectors are already utilizing the concept as a solution to provide shelter for the homeless and for natural disaster victims. If you are searching for tiny house ideas, look no further than YouTube as there are many channels dedicated to this niche. Here’s one of my favorite.

Technically, anyone can join this niche, but since it has many characteristics, it is most ideal for the following individuals;

- People who already have (positive) experience living in one for some time
With that in mind, let’s see what programs are available for you.
Different Types of Tiny House Affiliate Programs
(1) Home Plans
Tiny home’s building foundation is generally different from the modern housing layout. For those who wants to cut down on labor costing and build their own, they will need guidance from the experts.

- Humble Homes – 25% per sale
- The Tiny Project – 20%
- Texas Tiny Homes – 35%

(3) Building Materials and Appliances
Making a tiny house functional is probably one of the most challenging part of the entire building process since it requires a good sense of dimension and budgeting as well. Most people will need a lot of help in this area, so writing product reviews or product comparison will come handy.
These companies and marketplaces offer some great selections, but as compared to digital products such as floor plans/ebooks, sales commissions are to be expected in the lower range.
- Home Depot – 3% to 5% (via Commission Junction)
- Lowes – From 2% (via Commission Junction)
- Amazon Marketplace – 5% to 8% (via Amazon Associates)
- Faucet – 4% to 10 % (via Rakuten Linkshare)
- The Container Store – 6% (via Rakuten Linkshare)

This is a great idea for my next affiliate website project. I’ve heard about people living in small / tiny houses, but never thought that there are affiliate programs associated to this. The commission seems great and I am leaning towards the tiny house planning as my main topic. Thank you for the inspiration.

Hello Cathy! This is actually my first time hearing about the tiny house movement. I love the idea of living a simpler life and it is quite appealing because it makes life less complicated with a financial freedom factor. As an inexperienced person when it comes to going tiny, I think the number two affiliate program is superb for me. With those books/ebooks, I will be able to go through smooth transition. Thanks for sharing.

This is great! I have a somewhat minimalist perspective. I live in an apartment and I am a renter. I never considered the thought of something small or that it was even a thing. I say so because I don’t have a ton of furniture here – just a bed to sleep in, a chair for me to sit and some pots and pans to cook with. I grew up with parents who minimized on what they spent so simple living comes very naturally for me. This is a pretty smart niche and I can see with all the stress and debt, why someone would choose this type of lifestyle.

I am addicted to that show Tiny House Big Living. I have a dream that one day when I am retired, I will get a big land and live in my tiny house. When you put it like that, there are many opportunities that you can make in this new and upcoming niche.
Many of these houses are quite creative. I saw this family (4 people and 2 dogs) who converted an old school bus into a mobile home. They built everything from scratch and used mostly recyclable materials. This can be a fun project to work on. Thank you for sharing this new upcoming niche.

The concept of tiny houses is not a bad one as it helps people live according to their different socio economic backgrounds and lifestyle. Tiny houses can help students and people who don’t have a lot of money or people who are homeless. It’s also a great way to down size and live a more simpler life.

Now I must say I am an entrepreneur in the affiliate marketing business and am always looking for unique ideas for my readers and even myself. This is one I never thought of in terms of affiliate programs even though the idea of tiny living itself is something I have seriously considered doing in the next 2 years. Just an awesome idea all the way around!

Hi Cathy,
As an affiliate marketer, I’m always looking for interesting niches and your article really enlightened me. I hadn’t considered this niche which is funny, because I’ve read a lot about them, watched TV shows on them etc. over the past couple of years. But it never dawned on me that it could be such a great niche. I’ve perused through some of your resources and am strongly considering writing about this in the near future. Thanks for the insights!

This is great! I just read a video on how people live with a minimalist principle which help them to live a simple and worry-free life. Having less actual means that you are getting more – that’s what they said.
I never know there’s an affiliate for this kind of thing though. Do you think this will be a big trend in the coming future?
Cathy says
I would like to think so Elbert. Not one that will totally change the housing industry, but something that will be assimilated into future homes construction, lifestyle choices and people’s personal refinancing for sure. Definitely an on-going trend to watch out for.

In my opinion, this niche is not suited for everyone.
The main problem is that people, including myself, are used to having material things that are normally found in a house: large-screen television that gets 500 + channels, comfortable furniture to watch the television, computer (in my case a state-of-the art desktop computer complete with surround-sound 6 speaker system plus printer/copier machine), rooms that are large enough to hold a queen/king-sized bed, dining room set, bathrooms with walk-in showers and a garden tub, kitchen with microwave oven, another conventional oven, modern refrigerator/freezer, washing machine and dryer, the list goes on.
All of those things would not possibly fit inside a small house. It would take the individual having to change his/her mindset completely with the willingness to live in a tiny house with very little of the above mentioned luxuries, which also considering the home itself would in all honesty be better for the environment.
However, you provided many excellent suggestions to guide a person who might be interested in getting involved with this unusual niche which would potentially allow him/her to turn it into a profitable business venture.
It certainly would be the type of niche that is not overly saturated with tens of thousands of people all pursuing it at this time.

This is a great niche idea that I never would have thought of myself. There are many ways you could approach this niche from conservation/recycling, building, modern living, free living, saving money and many more.
Great article for helping someone to get started in this niche. Some great keywords and affiliate programs to consider when getting started.
This is a surging trend that I’m seeing on TV on a regular basis and it’s always intriguing to watch.

This is a growing craze no joke! My life is totally into getting a smaller space and having all the cool amenities, storage, and furniture hidden throughout the home to save on space and make it functional for every need. The things they do to make some of these homes self-sufficient is crazy too. The cost is super cheap also and it’s perfect for someone who lives alone and/or is just getting a start in their life. However, they do have small ones for families with children.
