If you are thinking about doing network marketing online, this company that I am about to review would be in your list somewhere. Founded in 2008 by an entrepreneur called Barnardo Chua, they are one of the few brands that promote a healthy coffee range to the consumer market. What’s so different about their coffee and what does the Organo Gold home business opportunity has to offer? Let dig into the details.
Top 4 Selling Points
1# The Secret Ingredient
The ‘golden’ part about Organo’s gourmet beverage is that they are infused with Ganoderma Lucidum, a species of mushroom that is well-known in Asia for many health benefits. To raise the quality bar of the ingredient, the company took it a step further to cultivate this particular herb in a certified organic setting.
All their products – coffee, tea, protein shake and personal care – contain a tinge of this unique herb and a supplement preparation is also available for those who want to consume it undiluted.
2# Lucrative Income Plan
The second selling factor is obviously the compensation plan that’s the core income generator for every network marketing company. In short, there are 7 ways to earn and as their distributor.
- Up to 50% profit on retail sales.
- Earn between $20 to $120 on promotional product pack sales (i.e. distributor to new distributor).
- Business team bonuses.
- Multi-level bonuses.
- Personal team (down line) bonuses.
- Team leader bonuses.
- 3% commission from their worldwide bonus pool.
According to Organo’s income disclosure statement, active distributors who have reached the rank of leadership makes about $600 to $100K per year. For some people, that can be a very lucrative goal to aim after.
3# Philanthropy Work
Like most networking companies, Organo has their fair share of giving back to the community, from distributing meals at San Antanio to providing for the handicapped and orphaned children in India.
These activities are documented on their official homepage and they’ve also created a foundation that helps youth around the world to develop essential skills as adults. This goes to show that the company has the financial resources to do good things for the community and it’s important that they lead by examples.
4# Outshining Their Competitors
When it comes to the product features and promotional appeal, it’s not hard to see that Organo is ahead of their competitors within the coffee networking marketing niche. Their website is more established, the testimonials are more solid, and their activities are more transparent as compared to the others that seem somewhat outdated.
If I am keen to become a coffee distributor, this would be the company of my choice.
The Downsides Of Organo
I am pretty sure you know by now that success doesn’t happen overnight and that’s the same with Organo. Let me explain.
1# Pricey Start Up
The most basic business entry kit costs $49.95 but it doesn’t allow you to earn anything. To fully benefit from the compensation plan, you need to purchase product packs with bigger values because that will lead you to higher rankings and commission gains.
Here’s your minimum investment into the business;
- Gold pack – $1300
- Silver pack – $450
- Bronze – $150
Not only do they come with big price tags, there’s a minimum amount of sales to be generated in order to maintain (earning) at that level. This means, you need to actively buy, sell OR recruit throughout the year.
Now, it’s not difficult to find people who like drinking coffee, but it’s going to be a challenge to gain their confidence/loyalty towards a brand and be consistent with it. Would you agree? This brings me to the next most common circumstances faced by network marketers.
2# How Good Are You at Sales Talking?
By this, I don’t mean that you only share about product information, but you also need to talk about families, health, financial issues and etc. with those you come in contact with. Remember, you are selling AND recruiting at the same time.
Even in the face of rejection, you need to constantly make the effort to talk and show your sincerity. Every person is key to your business and you’ll be taught to view it that way by the company, whether you like it or not.
If you like public speaking, motivating others and feel that success can be achieved in this manner, then you probably have the skill set to succeed in the MLM business model. But if you don’t have the knack for this, it’s going to be an uphill battle trying to become an active distributor. That’s why so very few people ever make it to the rank of leadership within the system.
3# Competing With eBay
Talking about eBay makes no sense here, but there’s something you need to know. There are people who are actually selling Organo’s beverage online at a lower price than the original retail.
This is certainly targeting the end user and given the choices, I’m sure they would buy from eBay. So unless Organo does something about this, there’s a good chance that you are loosing a small chunk of retail customers here.
4# Lack Online Popularity
Recently, network marketers have started to go online to reach out to potential market and you can find some blogs through Google search. However, these sites are very product-centric and for me, that doesn’t provide a good user experience on the internet space.
Probably that’s one of the reasons why their online popularity has dwindled over the years according to the trend below.
Another thing that’s unpopular, or rather controversial, is about the Ganoderma and its miraculous benefits. There have been claims that it can cure diabetes and cancer, despite the lack of proven research. Yet, there’s another group of thought that long term consumption of this herb can lead to undesirable side effects.
Information like this is confusing and misleading. If you are planning to sell them, then be ready to confront these questions and do a thorough research to get the facts right.
Is Organo Gold Worthy of Your Time?
After explaining the pros and cons, you should know by heart if the Organo gold home business opportunity is your cup of coffee or not. Consider your resources (time and money) and your skills – if you have what it takes, go for it.
If you don’t, do not despair. It’s not the end of your journey towards ‘financial freedom’. There’s another business model called affiliate marketing that’s more beginner friendly, less costly to start up and definitely more flexible in terms of niche choices.

Cathy,
Being a winter-time coffee lover I found it to be a very interesting read as you issued a review of the Organo Gold coffee home business opportunity.
As here in the U.S., coffee has lately been promoted by the FDA, (food and drug admin) as having actual health benefits to people who regularly drink it, this company would seem to have great appeal. Consider also that Organo would appear to be better than your average cup of “Maxwell House” coffee due to the manner in which the beans are organically grown.
As far as an individual believing that he/she could create a profitable online business with this company as you correctly stated there are a few issues in the manner in which Organo has structured its online MLM business.
The ultimate Gold level entrance fee of $1,300 is quite a high price. Before I’d even consider laying down that kind of money as an investment into this company’s business info, I would have to be provided info on exactly what Organo would have to offer to help me be successful running an online business. Is training provided, at any level regarding teaching all members how to promote the business – particularly online and through a website?
You mentioned that it appears that trying to recruit people to join this venture, even purchasing the product would involve an individual having to sell/ promote Organo to people as if it still was 1985, a time period before personal computers and the Internet were around.
Because of Organo’s apparent lack of forward thinking in training members to build a business as if it was 2017; promoting the business through a website, social media, PPC, etc. to me this would be one MLM business to pass on!
Still, I’d love to have a cup of this company’s coffee products. By the way, how much would a bag of the latte seen in the image in your review cost?
Jeff

Always great to hear from you Jeff.
A box (20 sachets) of latte cost $27 on the original website. However, if you are buying from eBay, that would be $24.65. Notice the price difference? 🙂

Hey Cathy,
The Organo home business opportunity sounds like an MLM scheme which I am sure that I am not good at doing. However, it is a very good review with strong points of the pros and cons. Interesting though, never thought there’s a philanthropy work in such a business like this.
The investment is quite pricey, at least for me. Plus, I am not a coffee drinker so maybe I might look upon the tea business instead 😀
Cathy says
Hey Elbert, philanthropy is a huge promoting factor with MLMs. It’s a way of displaying their values by giving back to the community. Others called it Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), but they are relatively the same thing.

Wow, if nothing else you made me want to go buy this coffee. I’d be interested in trying it.
But, I don’t think this would be a good business idea for me. Although I’ve seen higher buy-in rates with other MLM platforms, I wouldn’t consider myself a great ‘sales woman.’ I might have given it a try if there wasn’t a ‘quota’ you had to fill each month – that seem really intimidating.
I think it’s interesting you mention that you can find this on Ebay. Do you think that someone is drop shipping the product? Perhaps a seller that has extra stock or someone who USED to be a seller, but couldn’t make it work? It just seems strange to me that someone who is not associated with the company would have their hands on it and be able to undercut the price and still make a profit.
Cathy says
Hi Kayla, definitely both situations apply here – someone who is currently selling (and wants to sell more) or someone who’s going out of the Organo business but still have some stock left. These things are ordered in bulk and I am pretty sure they have got an expiry date. There’s no point keeping them and listing on eBay is one way to move the inventory faster, in my opinion.

Thank you for this review of Organo Gold Home Business Opportunity. This sounds like an MLM which I am never good at because to be honest I am not a good salesman.
But what I like about this company is their philanthropy work. I admire companies and business owners who have the heart to give back to the community because I believe in sharing your blessings with the less fortunate.
We all know how powerful technology is to businesses so owners must work to boost their company’s name online in order for their business to grow, expand and succeed. If Organo Gold really wants to make a good name, it makes me wonder why they’re not doing what they’re supposed to be doing.
With regards to affiliate marketing, what are the odds that someone who does not have a website will succeed? Do you recommend email marketing immediately after putting up a site?
Cathy says
Hi Alice,
Finding success in affiliate marketing without a website is going to be tough in the modern online world. At the very least, you are going to need a webpage, but if you keep promoting the link, you can potentially be seen as a spammer whether it’s on social platforms or forums. You can learn more about the benefits of having an affiliate website here.
As for email marketing, it’s something to try when the web traffic hits more than 100 visitors per day. Until you reach that number, keep creating more content (article, comments and social posting) to have more keywords index and rank. In hindsight, that’s why you need a website in the first place because it allows you to publish plenty of content.

That was extremely informative and gave me some good insight into the struggles of MLM even when they try to update their marketing approach and go online. I have tried it and honestly, the monthly quotas only work if I were going to buy the product anyway. Honestly, coffee wouldn’t be high on my list. Now I have to rethink my strategy. Thanks for the additional insight.
Cathy says
Hi there Robin. The major challenge to MLM is the recruiting part and not every customer wants to be a member. It can be a very fabricated business model and may look nice on brochures. At the back scene of things, meeting quotas is a lot of hard work that involves physical and mental. Overall, their customer approach is way more traditional than the booming online marketing technique.
