Turn a Playful Niche Into Profit with Toy R Us Affiliate Program

There’s a huge industry that’s not within most people’s radar whenever they search for a business niche and that is toys. Every kid wants them and every parents could use some help in choosing the right one. Since creating new toys can be time consuming, I would recommend the affiliate marketing route instead.

Toys R Us offers their affiliate programs through several affiliate networks and their commission varies according to the country of application.

• Conversant (formerly Commission Junction) – 3% (for UK)
• PepperJam Network – 2% (for Canada)
• Impact Radius – Commission varies (for US)

Who Is Your Targeted Audience

Although you are catering for the younger audience (kids), keep in mind that your targeted shoppers are actually the adults (parents etc.) because they are the ones who have the buying power. They would purchase based on their child’s interest, age and most importantly, their own budget. This is important to know when you are creating content for your site later on.

How to Build a Website

Step 1 – Get yourself a custom domain name

It doesn’t cost much and it’s more effective for personal branding in the long run. In the domain, you can’t use the term ‘Toys R Us’ because that’s considered copyright infringement. Instead, choose words that reflect your targeted niche like “outdoor toys for boys” or “toddlers toy collection”.

With a product of interest in mind, what type of questions/phrases do you think people would type into Google to find your website? For example, I want to promote this power wheel model which appears to be very popular in the store.

Using the Alphabet Soup Technique, I know people are already searching for these topics.

So I thought I use my favorite keyword tool to find out what’s the competition level (QSR value) like for one particular phrase. In case you are wondering, the lower the QSR value, the better your website will rank on the search results.

Looks like there are only 14 websites ranking for this phrase, so this is a potentially good keyword to use when writing a product review for the power wheel. But, what about the people who haven’t heard about this item? What type of phrases can you leverage from in order to offer them the product?

I thought of one – “what to get for a 10 year old boy” – and it appears to have an extremely low competition (QSR = 3). The amazing thing is that, this phrase also has other variations that have low QSR values. These are all GREAT keywords that can become content topics to target a certain products.

Now, all you need to do is to write an article surrounding that topic and hit publish. The more content you produce, the more ranking you can achieve and make more sales commissions as a result.

How Much Can You Earn

Say, if you applied through the PepperJam affiliate network (2%) and someone buys the Power Wheels Wild Thing though your affiliate link, you’ll earn about $6.60 from that online purchase. If it’s 10 customers, you get $66 and so forth.

If you asked me, this is a very decent profit and it is not impossible to reach sales of $100+ per day, as long as you are churning out great content for your targeted audience. There’s really no limit to how much you can actually earn through this Toys R Us affiliate program.

Is Toys R Us Worthy of Your Time?

Of course, Toys R Us have all these products, but they also make a good company to partner with for these following reasons;

• The company is a reputable brand. You probably bought from them before.
• In their YouTube channel, there are a lot of good quality product review videos that you can leverage from. Same goes to all the customer reviews on the product information pages.
• They provide a good user interface which will increase the likelihood of customers checking out (and you making a commission).
• Toys sell like crazy during shopping seasons. Profit can triple during summer holidays, Black Friday or Christmas.

• Modern toys are empowering. They create better bonding within the family and also help with young children’s development.
