Have you ever wondered what it would take to make an average guy or girl like you, owns a successful online career? You may think that you need to be tech-savvy or outsource all your tasks. Well, those are good advantages to have, but the thing that will give you the edge is nothing more than cultivating good working habits.
It has been said that a successful business is 1% theory and 99% perspiration and the latter has got a lot to do with our habits. By practicing these five habits, you’ll be well on your way to become a successful online entrepreneur, just like Jeff Bezos himself.
Habit #1 – Setting A Vision
If you venture online for the sole purpose of becoming financially rich, you might find yourself on the wrong track. A successful business should be one that gives you the avenue to explore your passion while delivering a product or service that can enrich the lifestyle of others.
When you have a vision like this above your goals, you will see the bigger picture of wealth and appreciate challenges as opportunities to establish a strong business foundation.
Habit #2 – Organizing Tasks
Having a vision can help you to implement realistic actions towards your business goals and one of these pertinent actions is time planning. Organizing your tasks into monthly, weekly and even hourly schedules can help you manage easier so that you are not overwhelmed by the workload. (Read my tips on blogging for busy people)
Here’s another technique. Always prioritize your task by attempting the difficult ones (or the ones that you tend to avoid) first and then gradually ease into tasks that you are more comfortable with. By doing that, you will procrastinate less and accomplish your task on time more frequently.
When you put yourself into a routine like that, any goals that is impossible for others, is always possible for you.
Habit #3 – Staying Focused
Your ability to manage and not waste time will determine how well you stay focus on your tasks and how rapid your business will grow as a result of that.
When you pay attention to more important tasks such as building good quality content and creating engagement with your readers, you won’t find yourself sweating the smaller stuffs for example, being particular with a certain design on your website or taking negative comments too seriously.
Besides, having a strong discipline will help you to adhere to the schedules that you have set up earlier. So every time you find yourself distracted, reflect on your action plans and remind yourself that it is more important to be productive than to be frivolous.
Habit #4 – Continuous Learning
Is your current knowledge about starting an online business up to date? Maybe not, because the dynamic of web business is always changing. Do you need to spend thousands of dollars to start up? If you think you do, then you probably have been scammed online.
Seek to understand what your business is all about and research on various resources. Always ask when you are in doubt because the answers will definitely help to improve in your entrepreneurship skills. Sometimes, you’ll find yourself in a steep learning curve, but if you have a great vision, you’ll consider that as stepping stones.
Habit #5 – Networking Groups
One of the major resources for learning is networking and since you are running a web business, joining one should be easy, unless you decided not to.
Proactive interaction with other online entrepreneurs can keep you updated with the latest news, give you new ideas and refer you to people who can help grow your online venture.
Who knows, you might even find a mentor (or become one) along the way. Helping one another or paying it forward is an important value when it comes to networking.
Although it doesn’t appear to profit you immediately, it will certainly contribute to your business growth in the long run.
Success Begins With Your Habits
So, are you ready to give 99% perspiration to become a successful online entrepreneur? Only you can answer to that. Everyone talks about becoming their own boss, yet much of the barriers that stop us from doing so, come from our doubt, fear and mostly our habits.

Despite the actual popularity of these tips these days and how many times I’ve come across these, your post has been officially the most unique and truly resonating post of all.
Every statement you said, I found myself agreeing with these statements more and more. Just recently, I also decided, as a result of my everyday procrastinating habits, to split up my tasks according to set times of the day. It has HELPED tremendously!
Giving yourself specific time-limits to what you do and when to do it, as long as you are dedicated, can make all the difference in success, in any career. You’ve done a wonderful job with this post and can’t help but grade this as A+ work. Thank you!

Thanks for your comment Peter.
Aren’t we all guilty of procrastination. I used to keep putting things aside, thought I would deal with it later, or secretly hoping that the task will go away.
The thing is, they often come back to haunt you one way or the other. So it’s better to get things done straightaway than to wait. Stop wasting time at work and get things done is my new motto.
