Are you looking for a quick and flexible way to earn money? Something online that you can do during your free time? Then you’ve likely heard of Ysense; a platform that pays you for completing specific tasks like doing surveys, watching videos, answering questions, and accomplishing simple tasks.
In this review, we’ll be taking a look at the background, how the platform pays, and the pros and cons that you should know before going all in. Can you make money with Ysense after all the hustling? By the end of this review, we’ll be able to get an answer to that.
What Is Ysense
Ysense is an online community/platform that has been operating since 2017 under the name Clixsense before it switches to the current brand in August 2019. Since its inception, it claimed to have paid over 37 million dollars to the members.
Pretty huge, right? At this point, it’s probably one of the sites that accept worldwide registration and not just limited to the US, UK, and Canada.
Ysense’s Earning Potentials
Ysense is structured in a way to provide different options that suit your earning drive. Here are 4 things you can do.
(1) Complete Surveys
The most obvious offer upon signing up is to take surveys available on your profile. Upon completion, you’ll be rewarded anywhere between $0.20 to $4 or even more. This task requires frequent checking in to see if there are any survey slots up for grab.
There are two types of surveys; Invites and Daily Routers.
With Survey Invites, you’re invited to participate based on the profile you’ve created. With Daily Routers, there’s no limit to how many times you can access the surveys but each is subjected to eligibility and availability.
(2) Complete Figure Eight Tasks
Another way to earn on Ysense is by completing tasks known as the Figure Eight Tasks. These tasks are provided by Appen, a crowdsourcing service that lists several small tasks for you to complete online.
The earning reward here is fairly small, but you get the chance to participate in the weekly contest. The person with the highest number of completed Tasks wins a bonus of $100.
(3) Complete Cash Offers
The next one is called cash offers and it’s also a form of completing tasks. With these offers, you are required to watch videos, sign up for some websites, try new products, or download different apps on your mobile.
There are many offers in this section; some pay in cents while others offer huge tempting money. For instance, if you’re a frequent traveler, you can book your flight through one of these pages and make $5 and also entitled to a discounted fare.
(4) Ysense Affiliate Program
This is probably one of the smartest strategies to make money with Ysense because it has recurring potential. It pays you for referring people to join the platform as a member and you can do so by sharing your unique referral link via social media or through a blog.
The first type of commission is from sign-ups.
For every new referral who becomes an active member, you earn anywhere between $0.10 or $0.30, depending on which country they come from. Let say you happen to bring in 1000 referral from the top tier countries; you’ll automatically earn $300 into your account. When they earn their first $5, you will also earn an extra $2 bonus. Awesome, right?
The second type of commission is activity-based.
For every task, cash offer, or survey your referral completes, you get as much as 20% to 30% commission of what they earn. For someone with a large fan base on WhatsApp, Facebook, forums, or SMS, you can refer a lot of people through this method. The more active they are, the more you earn.
YSense Payout Options
Once you’ve accumulated some money in your account, you can choose to payout through these options, provided the minimum thresholds are met.
(1) Gift cards
At the moment, the only gift card you can redeem is from Amazon and the values differ according to countries. For example in the US, it only takes $5 but for the UK, you need at least $32. So there’s a stark difference there. Other Amazon gift cards that are currently available are from Italy and Spain.
(2) PayPal cash
This option allows you to cash out using PayPal, once you’ve reached the threshold of $10 (the maximum goes up to $250). For that, you’ll need to set up a PayPal account and it usually takes 5 to 7 business days to get the funds into your checking account.
(3) Skrill
If you don’t use PayPal for whatever reasons, there’s the option to receive cash through Skrill which has a lower transaction fee. The minimum threshold for this is $5 and it goes all the way up to $100.
(4) Payoneer
Payoneer is another option for getting money at your local bank but it has a higher threshold of $52. Due to that, I’m guessing this may not be the most popular method for cashing out.
The Advantages Of Using Ysense
First, let’s start with why this platform is becoming popular for online money-making.
(1) Unlike other sites like Survey Junkies or Swagbucks, Ysense is open to a lot of countries to join for free and not just limited to users coming from the US or UK.
(2) Unlike sites that pay you to click on ads, there are several ways to make money and you can always move about different tasks to maximize your earning potential on the platform.
(3) The site comes with an extension app that you can add to the browser; be it Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer. This feature lets you keep track of your account status and get notified whenever new surveys or tasks become available.
The Disadvantages Of Using Ysense
Attempting to make money with Ysense can look easy at the beginning, but in reality, it’s easier said than done. Let me break it down for you;
(1) Surveys – Most of them are quite selective and depending on where you’re coming from, it can be very tricky to qualify. Sometimes, you get cut off halfway through a survey for no apparent reason, and other times, there are just no surveys available.
Besides, most questions are usually redundant and have little relevance to real-life situations. It may feel mundane as if you’re answering a robot, or worse you’re the robot itself.
(2) Appen Tasks – I checked this section for the entire week and there’s only one task available that pays 1 cent per task. Doesn’t seem like there’s a lot of options here.
(3) Cash Offers – This part requires you to engage with some online activities which may give a false impression that you’re earning a lot. You’re redirected to other sites to do redundant micro-tasks. If they manage to get hold of your email or phone number, expect to be bombarded with a ton of messages from unknown sources. That’s what happened after I completed a short quiz; it’s quite annoying.
(4) Affiliate Program – Of all the offers, it may seem like the affiliate program pays the most, but the commission pales in comparison to the industry standards. Most CPA (cost per acquisition) and CPL (cost per lead) would pay you more than that.
If you’re promoting products, the payout usually ranges between 3% to 10% for physical products while digital goods could earn you more; between 10% to 40% per sale. Since you’re going to spend the same amount of effort promoting something online, why not be affiliated with sites that pay higher commissions?
So, Can You Make Money With YSense?
Technically speaking you can; just don’t expect to make a ton of money on this site. It may help to kill time (like when you’re forced to stay home during a pandemic crisis) but it’s not a feasible measure to make any sustainable income. The reward is way too little to compensate for the time you spend accomplishing tasks or even promoting it.
And whether you’re opting for gift cards or cash, it’s likely to take forever to even reach the minimum payout threshold. Just do the calculation yourself; how long you’d need to accumulate $10 for PayPal credit? I’m guessing several months or maybe longer.
If you feel your time is more valuable than that, then I urge you to consider other alternatives. I made my first money online through affiliate marketing which generates a recurring income every month. With proper guidance, I believe you can do the same too. There are so many ways to make money online by doing surveys and affiliate programs. I never heard of YSense. What I’ve learned here is that YSense is like an umbrella that covers others companies that pays you for your work or affiliates. Is that right? Also, if you join YSense, do you have to create a separate account for each company? I’d also like to know if the affiliated programs are any good. Thanks.
Cathy says
Hi John. Yes, Ysense is like a portal that connects you to other companies, and depending on the tasks performed you may be required to sign up individually. This is especially true for survey sites. Are they any good? Well, the disadvantages speak for itself. Offers aren’t always available and they pay very little compared to the industry standards. That’s the way I feel but someone else may see it differently.
