Before I talk about which pet products affiliate programs to join, here are some interesting facts. In 2010, the total US expenditure in the pet industry was $48 billion. By the end of 2017, sales are estimated to reach $70 billion. Within that number, more than 46% of the consumers buy through online.
This clearly tells you that 1) the number of pet household is growing and 2) more stores now have eCommerce outlets for shopping convenience. To state the obvious, this isn’t just a hot niche, but a profitable one too, if you know how to place yourself strategically in front of the eyes of the audience. This article aims to show you a few reputable brands to be affiliated with and also some keywords to get your blog started. Let’s see what’s in store, shall we?
#1 Health Paws Pet Insurance
This product sits on the top of my list because the health of a pet means everything to their owners. Since pets have a much shorter lifespan than humans, a lot of (unexpected) medical condition can occur during the span of say 10 years. Many (new) owners aren’t aware of this and often find themselves caught in situations where they have to decline veterinary treatment because they can’t afford it. With the type of modern financial support we have today, that shouldn’t have happened.
Therefore, recommending insurance isn’t just important, it’s a vital knowledge that can be propagated through blogging AND it can save lives. Healthy Paws is rated as the best pet insurance for 2015 to 2017. They are well known for their fantastic customer services, timely reimbursement and reasonable premiums. For every new customer you refer to the service, the commission is $35/sale.

#2 PetSmart
When we talk about pet eCommerce, the first outlet that naturally comes to my mind is PetSmart. Having established for almost 30 years, this giant retailer has more than 1500 stores in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.
The company generates close to $7 billion in revenue and recently make headlines when celebrity Ellen Degeneres partner with them to create a new brand line of pet products. PetSmart offers a wide range of products at competitive prices and they also support rescued animals in finding new homes.
The affiliate commission is 2% and you can create individual links for over 10,000 products within the store by signing up with Rakuten Linkshare.
Targeted Keywords
- Heated Dog Beds for Arthritic Dogs
- Portable Kennel for Large Dogs
- Chew Toys Puppies Love
- Dog Collar That Lights Up
- Halloween Costumes for Dogs
Note – The Petsmart affiliate program is no longer available. Try Petco affiliate instead.
#3 FitBark
I love innovation, especially when they serve to improve the quality of a pet’s life. FitBark is one such company that monitor a dog’s daily health activities through a monitoring device attached to the collar.
It will tell you if your dog is drinking enough water or if the oral medication is working to reduce his arthritic pain. It’s something like a human’s FitBit if you will, but offers more. Waterproof, lightweight and ease of connecting to smartphones has made it a revolutionary product to have for both pet owners and veterinarians.
Since launching in 2013, the gadget has gathered many positive reviews from customers. Currently, retail sells for $69.99. If you’re an Amazon Associate, you can earn 8%, but if you are a direct affiliate, you could earn up to 12% in sales commission. The difference here is that the original company provides a 60 days cookie while Amazon’s is much shorter at 24 hours.
I found this niche particularly interesting, especially when you consider these potential keywords.
Targeted Keywords
- How to Know If My Dog Is Sick
- How Much Water Should a Dog Drink per Day

#4 Ruffwear
Pet owners love taking their dogs everywhere, especially for outdoors activities, but the environment can be a very harsh place for our furry friends. Fortunately, there’s a company called Ruffwear that produce specific gears for such purposes.
If you have a very outgoing dog, you’ll find their product range amazing and given the amount of positive customer reviews, we can tell that the quality is very durable too. Ruffwear offers 8% in sales commission and you can apply via Avantlink.
Here are some keywords you can use to recommend this brand through a pet blog.
Targeted Keywords

- Waterproof Fleece Jacket for Dogs
- Collapsible Dog Bowl Made in Usa
- Natural Rubber Toys for Dogs

#5 The Online Dog Trainer
Even though this isn’t a physical product, it’s definitely one that can convert very well. The online dog trainer is a community forum/ training site that helps dogs with behavior problems by educating owners on what to do. There is plenty of bite-sized videos to watch, lot’s of people to interact with as well as getting advice directly from Dan, the main instructor himself. You’ll also find useful checklists to keep your learning on track.
The program membership costs $37/month and the offer is a whopping 70% in commission. Their refund rate is one of the lowest in Clickbank, which is a network that promotes digital affiliate products.
Therefore, if you’re enthusiastic about fixing dog behavior problems, try tapping into these keywords to make the most out of the affiliate program.

#6 BarkBox
The next product that I’m about to share has a lot of fun factors. Ever heard of subscription boxes? It’s a service that customizes monthly boxes filled with goodies and deliver them to the subscribers. BarkBox is a dog loving company that packs 2 toys, 2 natural treats and 1 natural chew in a box for your pup. There’s a theme for every month, so you can expect to receive different items each time.
They also customize their boxes according to the size of the pup, so you won’t have a small breed chewing on something that’s meant for large breeds. The subscription is $29/month (for 1 month) and $19/month (for a year). I do know that they have an affiliate program, but I couldn’t find out what the commission percentage is like. If you have that information, please let us know in the comment area below.

Hi – Does PetSmart still have an affiliate program? It appears that they closed their program with Rakuten. Does anyone know the best way to partner with PetSmart (or Chewy) if they do not have an affiliate program?
Thanks
Cathy says
Hi Dan, it seems that the two companies have stopped their affiliate programs. Not sure if it’s available through Viglink. Alternatively, you could try PetCo. They have a pretty good network earnings score of 4/5 on Commission Junction and pay between 5%-8% per sale.
Mike says
Hi, I was searching for the Chewy affiliate program as well. Surprised to find out they don’t have one. Then I read on this blog that Petsmart pays 2% commission and Amazon pays 8% for the same category. Think I have made up my mind 🙂
Cathy says
Hi Mike, thought I update you that the PetSmart affiliate program is currently inactive according to the official site. For now, Amazon might be a better choice.

This is an educational post indeed. I was not aware of such a big market in the pet business industry and the plethora of keywords that are available for affiliate marketers. Insurance for pets used to be foreign for me, but I think it is becoming culturally acceptable. It is only within the last 10 years that I accepted a cat into our house and I think an insurance is essential for every pet owners to have.

Thanks for this comprehensive list for pet paraphernalia. I must say that vet bills are beyond most people’s affordability and getting pet insurance is vital to keeping down the cost. Too many times, I have heard animals having to endure sickness because of their owners struggle to pay the bills.
All the products that you recommend seems to have plenty of positive testimonials in the US and Canada market. As an upcoming affiliate, I am curious to know how easy it is to promote and earn from these affiliate programs.

Hi Cathy, That’s a great list to get started with and some good, long keywords. I grew up with dogs in my family and understand how much people care about their pets. I think it’s not a bad niche to get involved in at all. Anyway, what is this Wealthy Affiliate all about?

We are a nation of pet lovers so what better website to have with a niche about our pets. The six programs that you are promoting cover all the key areas where it is needed for pet care. As a dog lover myself, I actually learned a thing or two about profiting from this niche, so thank you.
Dr. Misty Baker says
I know that people with pets LOVE to buy for them. And if you live in a more rural community, your options on pet products are so very limited. I also believe that pet clothes would be a great niche to get into.
Lots of affiliate ideas here for someone who’s monetizing from a pet blog and, we ALL KNOW that the market is huge out there.
Cathy says
That’s very true Misty. Cat alone is reported to be a $30 billion dollar niche idea. Just imagine the opportunity.
