Do you own a food or lifestyle blog and wonder what to write for your next product review? Here’s an interesting one. Ever heard of meal delivery services? They are quite popular these days and there are plenty of companies that will reward you for bringing them more customers. Hello Fresh affiliate program is one of them and in today’s niche brainstorming, I am going to show how you can leverage from trends and keywords to increase your online income.
What Is a Meal Delivery Service
Meal delivery service is a subscription based facility that curate recipes, pack the ingredients and send them to subscribers on a certain time.
Even though it might seem like a new eating trend in the western world, such service actually existed way back in 1975 in Japan to provide for working mothers and senior citizens. In a similar nature, meal kits are also widely distributed in China and India to cater for city lunch hours as well as for school children.
Back in the US, about $1.5 billion dollar sales were made in 2016 in this industry and experts believe that the market will grow tremendously in the next 5 years. Meal kit, as you can imagine, provide convenience for the modern dwellers at a cost effective price (some as low as $4.99/person) because most ingredients come straight from the suppliers to your door step.
Grocery shopping time is cut down and people don’t need to constantly think about what to prepare for their dinners. Plus the fun factor is that there’s always an interesting recipe that awaits you in a box.
What Hello Fresh Has to Offer
And here’s where Hello Fresh comes in. Hailed from Germany, this company is currently operating in 7 countries including US, Canada and Australia. One of the key feature is that they offer diet sensitivity choices such as gluten-free, pork-free as well as vegetarian meal plan.
Each recipe uses domestic ingredients that are naturally/safely harvested, put together by chefs/dietitian and lets you know how much calories and cooking time is required per meal. All ingredients are pre portioned and packed in materials that can be easily recycled in order to produce minimal waste to the environment.
Hello Fresh has made quite a name for itself online over the years and is considered a reputable company in the burgeoning meal kit business. When a new customer signs up, they get $30 off from their 1st weekly subscription, which I think is a pretty generous offer.
As for bloggers, the cookie duration is 14 days and you get $20 commission for every new subscriber. That too, is a very good rate considering that it is higher than most physical affiliate products on retail (for example, Amazon Kitchen only gives you 4.5%).
Alternatively, you could also use a unique code link to send invites to family and friends. They will get $40 off and you’ll earn a $20 discount from your own meal subscription plan. How cool is that?
To get into the program, you need to sign up with Commission Junction with your blog details and, upon approval, you’ll be able to make use of the banner ads, logos and artwork provided.
How to Promote Hello Fresh
One of the best ways to promote Hello Fresh is to write about its key features and to share your own personal experience. A mommy, lifestyle and foodie blog is a good match for this program because your audience is more likely to be attracted to the concept of meal kit subscription.
Before that, it’s also important to know that there are other companies that are also competing with this brand. This will help you explore and research other options for your audience so that they can decide what meal plan is best for their taste and budget.
- Martha and Marley Spoon
- Blue Apron
- Bistro MD
- Green Chef
- Plated
- Freshly
- Green Blender
- PeachDish
- Luke’s Local
- Daily Harvest
- Premade Paleo
- Munchery
- Purple Carrot
In order to get your message across, you need to understand what keywords your audience is using online. You see, when people search for solutions to their problems (hint – meal kit helps to solve daily problems), there are specific terms they would use to get the results.
This keywords show themselves in several ways.
First, there’s Google Instant that predicts what a person is searching within a given topic.
Second, if you look to the bottom of the search result page, you’ll see a bunch of phrases that are related to the original search terms.
Both of these simple techniques offer keywords ideas that can be used to promote Hello Fresh.
The third method, which yields the most data, is through a keyword tool. It basically tells you how many people are searching and how many sites are competing for a particular phrase. A good keyword to use is something that has a high number of searches and a low number of competition keywords.
Here are some examples. Can you think of an interesting topic to write about using any of these targeted keywords?
By doing these collective research, you’ll be able to narrow down to specific topics, elaborate as best as you can and publish your blog posts frequently. The positive from all this is that your blog will start to rank higher on the search engines and attracts more visitors to sign up for their first meal plan with Hello Fresh.
If you are not camera shy, you can also create some YouTube videos – using the keywords as the title – to show people what’s inside the box or what your experience is like with their meal plans. Place your affiliate link in the description below the video (don’t embed them on the video) and point your readers towards it.
Help People Make Healthier Eating Choices
Less food wastage, spending more time with the family and healthier recipes – these are just some of the good things that people have said about meal plan subscriptions. So if you think your audience will like these offers, apply for the Hello Fresh affiliate program, promote using the techniques that I’ve just shared and help people consume healthier meals each day.

Hello Kathy
I have used Hello Fresh in Australia and can vouch for their quality and tremendous service.
Today, people are busier than ever before, so a meal delivery service is a convenient and often essential subscription to have. What I like most about Hello Fresh is that you still get to do the cooking, but you don’t have to think about what to cook or buy the ingredients at the supermarket.
I can see how being an affiliate for this brand and promoting their meal packages would be a great income stream for anybody having a food blog or similar.

Hi Cathy, this post was of extreme interest to me as I have a website in the health and fitness niche and at this moment I am trying to think of review pages to write about. Food subscriptions boxes are a fantastic opportunity for a post and I can’t wait to look into it further. Thanks for the tips.

It is just amazing me time and time again how many affiliate programs there are out there.
Didn’t think a moment that a meal selling business also had an affiliate program – how awesome!
Perhaps when I start doing something about one of my foodie sites, I could use this idea as a potential affiliate program. Great to learn of you as are the other articles on your site. Been following you already for a while, so I just ran into your newest post today.
Anyway, are these meal subscriptions commissions a one-off thing OR do they have a recurring income for affiliates? I’ve been sticking a lot with Amazon as of late on my sites, but I think I should really explore the other offers out there to make some more bucks.
Thanks for your awesome post.

Hi Steven. There are literally hundreds of subscription services affiliate programs out there for any imaginable niche that you can think of. It doesn’t even have to be meal/food related. Try searching for ‘your niche + subscription service’ on Google and you should see some interesting results.
As for your question, commission for every new customers is the most common way of earning through these programs. Depending on which company you sign up with, some will provide free samples in exchange for post reviews, coupons through advertising models and bonuses when a certain amount of targeted sales is achieved. You should be able to find all this information on their affiliate sign up page.
Hope this helps.
