Finding a niche when I was just starting out felt like a huge ominous decision. You’re going to be writing about this subject and spending a lot of time doing research for a very long time! I had to really break it down and start with, what are my passions?
From there it was easy! These are great ideas. I especially like your end section about merging a couple different niches. This is an awesome point. Just because you start writing about yoga doesn’t mean you have to exclude other subjects. Jewelry and mala beads are very relevant to yoga too. The only limits are the ones you set on yourself.

That’s right Helen. You totally get the point.
Within a niche, there are always subniches that you can branch out but still keep your blog fairly relevant and interesting. Like you said, there are plenty of yoga affiliate programs that don’t just focus on exercises but also on props, clothing and even nutrition. That’s already 3 subniches in one big niche.

When I first joined WA, the only thing that seemed difficult is finding a niche. I always knew you needed a niche for your site to attract visitors but I was looking at all of the suggestions and got a little overwhelmed. This definitely helps someone (even a man) who is struggling with what direction he wants to go in.
Cathy says
Finding a niche can be quite challenging for most people. In a way, that’s a good thing because it makes you think about all the possibilities that can provide income streams. I would pick about 3 niches, check the trends and brainstorm for keywords to see if there’s a potential fit for growing an online business for the long term. If you need any help, just let me know OR check out the training at Wealthy Affiliate to learn more.

Hi Cathy
These are some fantastic ideas for bloggers especially the ladies! I like the idea of combining two niches into one. Not only will it be more fun but you’ll get to expand on so many other sub niches as well.
I have seen that webinar live video class by Jay it’s amazing and highly recommended to all. Fantastic reading Cathy. Thanks.
Cathy says
Hi there Michelle,
Combining niches is actually very interesting. You can start with one idea and end up with very different results which can make your online business more diverse. Jay from Wealthy Affiliate just made a new video called ‘Niche Brainstorming’ and I highly encourage you to watch it if you are just starting out in your online business.
Dr. Oscar A. Williams, Jr. says
That is an excellent site, I love the timeline grafts that show the trend of each and every niche. If someone had started a niche back there when the graph was at its lowest, they would have given up and thought it was a waste of time. But patience is a virtue. These things just took off. That just show you how technology has made things for the better.
Cathy says
Hi there Oscar,
That’s a great way to put things into perspective. Google Trend, Google News and Keyword Research are all vital tools to keep track of a product/service popularity online. No one can really tell you when a trend would dip or pick up so you’ll need these sources to make your best judgement.
Alternatively, it’s always good to diversify your sub-niches so that you don’t place everything into one basket. So, in case one sub-niche goes out of trend, you can still fallback on another.
Viljoen says
Hi Cathy
I really like the way you used Google Trends to discover growing niches ideas for women. There are so many different types of niches and if yours can be your passion, then it is a bonus.
There is one niche that is very flexible and that is selling tee shirts online. You can design your own shirt and sell it through your website if you want to. You can also target any niche imaginable with T-shirts.
Cathy says
Right on the spot, Viljoen.
I have actually researched and found that selling T-shirts online is becoming a popular business and there are many tools out there to help you get started even at zero cost. One such tool is called Teespring and I am really impressed by their designing tool, T-shirt quality and flexible pricing. You should check them out too.

I think these are some great ideas! Frankly I’ve seen a lot of ladies just doing make up over and over again, it’s great to see something different for once. I would love to see more home decor and food blogs on WA honestly.
Thanks for the tips, although I’m not a lady maybe my girlfriend will be inspired.
Cathy says
Hi Matt,
Make up is really a popular niche these days especially with affiliate marketing. Who doesn’t like to look beautiful, right? You know what? That might just make a good blog topic. Thanks for the idea, Matt.
Tommy says
Thanks for the wonderful insights in choosing a niche.
I am on the verge of recreating one of my old sites into a niche site. All this stuff is still very new to me, but I will definitely be using Google Trends to see exactly where I should aim when choosing my target audience.
These ideas are great for everyone! (men included). I can even cook up a storm in the kitchen! Lol!
Cathy says
Hey there Tommy,
Yup, you can work with the same concept and apply them when building niche sites for men. In fact, I’ve come up with an article about men’s fashion niche that you might be interested to read. Maybe it can give you more ideas.
Ladrunner says
Very interesting way to choose niches. I especially think that the title lives up to its name when it says creative as I never thought of combining two niches together. What really was cool to me was that you use Google Trends to help narrow down a niche list. I’m definitely going to check out the product trends for my next niche.
Thank you for a great read!
Cathy says
Hi there Lad,
Google Trend is great because it has visual impacts to help us guesstimate what kind of niche we are getting into. Using this in combination with long tail keywords will certainly help you write more targeted articles for your blog post.
Glad you learned something from this Lad.
Carlton Gonder says
Hi Cathy,
I love how you made this blog specifically for the ladies and still able to include the guys into the picture. Not only is the topic informative, the comments that follow are great for gaining even more insight into the article with the help of yourself and others.
Cathy says
Hi there Carlton,
I am glad you found something helpful in this topic from a guy’s perspective. The same concept can certainly be applied if you are venturing into the men’s niche. Here’s a post which I wrote about men’s fashion if you are interested to read.
Alex says
Hi, Cathy.
This is a great post on giving ideas for ladies on what they can blog about. Although I am not a lady, I would like to add one more niche on top of yours – skin care. This can be a good niche as well. What do you think about that?
In general, I can see that the trends of all niches are increasing, partly because the internet is gaining its popularity over time. Blogging / Online business is definitely a great choice if one wants to earn some extra income. Thanks for giving the link to where I can start looking for information on building my own website.
Cathy says
Hi there Alex,
That is a great suggestion. I did a quick search on Google Trend and skin care is indeed an on-going trend that many online marketers can leverage from.
Although the trend isn’t gender specific, I believe that this niche is also gaining a lot of popularity among men. Thanks for the input, Alex.
G.C.Horton says
Hi Cathy!
Thanks for the great ideas. I realize your post “Creative Niche Blogging Ideas for the Ladies” is out of my gender park, but the ideas are still terrific.
I’m in the process now of adding video to my blog and it is definitely challenging the boundaries of my comfort zone.
Cathy says
Hey GC,
Videos are great because they help to engage with readers longer on your site. Are you creating your own video or are you embedding videos from YouTube?
By the way, thanks for the idea. I might come up with a niche blogging post for men 🙂
Shrey says
Hey, I think I like the jewelry idea. I have no kids so I do not know about that. Travelling sounds cool though, but I think you need to be a travelling freak to pursue that niche.
Anyway, I wanted to know – how would the fashion and clothing niche be like for women?
Cathy says
Hi Shrey,
Based on my knowledge, fashion and clothing is definitely a hot niche (which makes it very competitive too) among both genders. I don’t know about you, but I really love to browse for clothing stuff online. Here’s a snippet of the trend from Google if you are thinking of pursuing this niche.
Don’t forget to do some keyword research too to find out more about your competition. Hope this helps!
Sonia says
Hi Cathy,
What a clever way to come up with niche blogging ideas! I personally have opted for a travel niche (African safaris) and mix and match it with blogs about foods and culture! But I find it to be a very competitive niche!
I want to expand my online business and add another website. Do you think that I should be very specific in the selection of my next niche and go with something trendy, but with very low competition in order to increase my chance of success?
Thanks for this enlightening post!
Sonia
Cathy says
Hi there Sonia,
Instead of adding another website, why not expand the niche topic within your preexisting site? Creating two websites is like maintaining two houses – you’ll need another set of webmaster and analytics to track the new site, not to mention adding more load to your blogging routine as you try to scale traffic for both sites.
If you have the experience, that’s great. But if you are just starting out, I would highly recommend that you stay with the original site and diversity the niche topics using low competition keywords. Jaaxy Keyword Tool is a great place to look for these keywords so I would recommend that you check it out.
Hannah says
Nice article – some very good ideas here which I can imagine would bring much success!
I considered doing multiple ideas from this list before settling on the niche of the site I am now working on. I live gluten-free so considered doing a site on simple gluten free snack and meal recipes but thought it might be too high competition. That’s what everyone is doing these days!
I finally settled on a niche which I suppose is a sub-niche of jewelry. It seems to be going quite well – it is a good niche but I think maybe it is a bit broad and high competition – although I have a genuine interest in it (always a bonus).
I really found this list of niches very helpful. I think you will help out a good few people with this!
Cathy says
Welcome back to my blog Hannah,
I like the fact that you have such diversify interest. It will surely give your blogging site more personality. Both niches that you mention are indeed competitive. What will make the difference here is to look for low competition keywords and frequently write blogs based on that. You’ll eventually get ranked for other related keywords as well so don’t let the competitions bother you too much.
If you have the passion, go for it.
