Very little is known about the Juice Plus business opportunity, especially in the area where I live. The last I check, there were only 238 followers and a one 5 star rating on their Facebook page. So it’s interesting to know that this company has been around since the ’70s, expanding from Memphis, Tennessee to more than 20 countries around the globe. The market for health products is big, but how far can you go with this brand?
This review will look into the earning potential and the apparent challenges that lie ahead.
What Is Juice Plus
Juice Plus is a dietary supplement company that harvests natural food ingredients, process them into concentrated powders and pack them in capsules for consumption. Other ranges of products consist of shakes, bars, and chews.
Far from anything that is juice related, the company claims that their supplements are more than just multivitamins. Their 40 years of establishment stand behind numerous clinical research, scientific journals as well as the endorsement by some medical experts.
Clearly, this looks like a legitimate product and the fact that it comes with income potential makes it even more interesting.
Ways to Earn From Juice Plus
The most direct method to make money is through retail sales profit. Overall, there are about 14 types of supplements and each comes with their own product points and retail profits.
The earning structure here very much depends on the volume as well as the type of supplement that is being promoted. Basically, the more items and the higher range supplements you sell, the more you’ll make.
The second method is through commission earnings and this is based on the number of product points that you accumulate within a qualifying month. For example, if you earn 500 points in the first 30 days of joining, you’ll be upgraded to a direct distributor level and qualify for a 6% commission. Earn up to 2000 points and the offer goes up to 14% commission.
The highest-ranking that you can achieve is the national marketing director which not only allows you to earn up to 22% commission but also gain from performance bonuses (through recruiting new members) as well as members-only benefits.
Simply said, if you want to make a lot of money from Juice Plus, you need to learn how to sell AND to recruit. It’s the only way to expand your business upward and achieve all the goals that the company has set up for you.
The combination of a ‘potent’ supplement and a network of health enthusiast people promoting the brand almost seems like a perfect marketing strategy – or is it? Every time I researched an MLM opportunity, I never fail to find shortcomings within an organization in terms of the practicality of the business model itself. Juice Plus is no exception either and here are the things you should be aware of before venturing too far.
The Challenges of Becoming a Juice Plus Distributor
1) Controversial Product Quality
Despite the ‘glossy’ endorsement stamped by various parties, these concentrated forms of fruit/vegetable powder have been widely marketed as a ‘superfood’ that can reduce cholesterol, cure diabetes and help with weight loss.
Those who are advocating this concept are mostly distributors themselves, doing so through different online channels. To verify the truth, a few independent research has been carried out only to reveal that these products actually contain too little ingredients to offer any significant health benefits.
Worse, the nutrient amount differs from what is listed on the product label itself and declared to only contain Vitamin A, C, E, and Folate, plus other minor amounts of phytochemicals that will not treat or prevent any diseases. In other words, it’s just a multivitamin capsule and a highly-priced one too.
2) Expensive Supplements
Now that we know what is in it, the next question to ask is, will people pay $44.50 per month to consume these multivitamins when there are affordable alternatives elsewhere? Plus, when ordering the Juice Plus capsules, one is steered towards a monthly payment so that the product can be shipped to you automatically for the next 4 months.
It is clearly stated in the checkout page and the distributors would argue that this is the best way to benefit from the supplement if you consumed it long term. I’ve never encountered such tactics with any nutrition company, but I am guessing that the idea behind is to help distributors earn more profits to meet their goals.
If you check on Amazon, there are other choices that people can buy at a lower price range without having to commit to any plans. From the consumer’s point of view, the latter seems more budget-friendly and flexible.
My point is, pricey supplements, especially one that comes with plans, have their limitations. It will only make your targeted customer much smaller and more difficult to convert.
3) Poor Online Presence
Going online is vital for any business to grow their brands nowadays so I am glad to see that Juice Plus provides personal websites for distributors to market the company online. This allows people to share product information through the social network, emails and also offer the convenience of online shopping.
But when I searched through Google, I was only able to find 2 to 3 sites like this and they are disappointingly defunct. It gives me the impression that they don’t know much about online marketing or that the company doesn’t really provide sound training in this area.
Either way, whenever I search for Juice Plus review, the only site that is worthy of reading is the official homepage. The poor online presence can negatively impact your effort in growing this business.
- People who are interested in buying supplements will not be aware of Juice Plus.
- You’ll have difficulty finding a new audience/market when you ran out of family/friends to sell to.
- People who are keen to start an independent business will not even know that this company exists.
Needless to say, when you don’t know how to market online, you’ll fall back to the traditional way of networking – selling door-to-door, hosting parties, distributing catalogs – which can consume a lot of your time and yield very little reward.
So, Is Juice Plus Worth The Investment
Health supplements are a multi-billion dollar industry and nothing is going to stop that from growing as we become a society that is conscious about what we consume on a daily basis. But the niche is also highly competitive with new companies coming in and out of the picture.
Choosing a trustworthy brand to partner with is important because ultimately, you want people to take things that benefit their bodies (and not so much about making money out of them). Choosing the right marketing channel is even more important to ensure that your effort is worthwhile and that you stay in touch with current health trends.
If you asked me, the Juice Plus business opportunity falls short in these two areas. Hence, I wouldn’t recommend this program for those who are even thinking of trying.
You are better off spending your time and money on programs that work such as Wealthy Affiliate that teaches the modern way of running an online business in any niche that you desire.
Take a look inside the training area (for free) to see how you can get started. Hope to see you on the inside.

I’ve never heard of this brand before. But I’ve attempted to sell a similar brand and didn’t like that they made it difficult for us to market stuff online. I wonder if Juice Plus is like that too. My issues with these kind of products is that most people aren’t interested in changing from their normal routines and things that they are familiar with.
It was like pulling teeth to get people to change and try something new. Even though the product will be extremely beneficial, most are not committed to pay heavy prices for regular items that can be bought from the stores. At least, that has been my experience in the past with health related products anyway.

Hi Jamie. Some older MLM companies existed before the boom of the internet era and they are quite adamant about the one-to-one approach over using internet marketing as they deemed that the latter is less personal. In my opinion, it’s just to benefit the recruitment part.
People are quite comfortable buying online these days now and they only need to read a couple of product reviews here and there before completing the purchase. Like you say, modern consumers prefer the flexibility of trying new things without the pressure of binding to a brand for a period of time. That’s where most MLMs lose out, I think.

Hey Cathy, thank you so much for the review. With juice plus, am I correct to assume that you really can’t make that much money if you’re just selling one particular product?
I know that you mentioned that the earning structure depends on volume as well as the type of supplement that’s being promoted, but it seems like the company is wanting to punish you if you’re only selling one specific supplement.
Personally, I’m not a big fan of MLM opportunities as it seems like they put way too much emphasis on being a manager rather than a salesperson.
While there are a lot of different MLM nutritional supplement companies out there, I have to agree that the price of the supplements seem to be really expensive compared to other companies in the market.

Hi Tony, the way I see it, getting people to subscribe to their supplements can be a challenge since there are better quality (and cheaper) alternatives out there. You certainly can’t make a lot by selling a single product, but a combination of expensive super food will not necessarily sell either.

Wow, those prices though! Seems like a VERY expensive product with like you said… very little backing.
I have horrible experience in the MLM arena. I hate bothering my friends and family all of the time. While I had never heard of Juice Plus prior to reading your post, I tend to just steer clear of these types of business opportunities.

I appreciated your honest and thorough review here. Like a lot of supplements, diets etc., they all see very trendy or a fad that will eventually pass. A person may make some money promoting/selling these products but not many are successful for a long period of time (as in many years) – just my opinion.

If Juice Plus really care about people’s health and well being, they can supply curable supplement made from fruits and vegetables and supply that at a reasonable price. I know for a fact that there are vegetables available that cures diabetes. This is needful now, because so many people are suffering from the disease. Juice Plus needs to used full strength in their supplemented products so that people can realized cure. There may be more potential in those kind of niches, I think.
